As I mentioned in my most recent post - Afternoon Tea || The Orchid Conservatory - I visited Kuala Lumpur for a brief vacation a few weeks back together with my boyfriend. Before I went, I browsed for recommended places to drop by in the city to prepare for the trip. Most of the articles I read recommended VCR for a dose of coffee.
Truthfully, VCR wasn't on my places-to-go list as I am not the biggest fan of coffee and I didn't think that it had anything special to offer. But then, as David and I were exploring the nearby area, we found out that VCR is just 2 minutes away from the apartment we stayed in! Since VCR is located very close to the apartment and opens early, we decided to pop in for a quick breakfast the morning after our arrival before traveling around the city.

Since VCR is located very close to the apartment and opens early, we decided to pop in for a quick breakfast the morning after our arrival before traveling around the city.
VCR is a small cozy cafe that offers both outdoor as well as indoor seating. I opted to sit inside since the interior was visually appealing and very instagenic! Fortunately, David and I got to sit by the window. The sunlight that shone through the window certainly helped to enhance the results of the photos taken!
VCR has rather large menu for breakfast, that includes waffles, granola, toast, quiche, cakes, and many more! I went for their homemade granola, while David decided to try their squash toast. For drinks, I ordered a glass of fresh orange juice, whereas David went for their tempting hot chocolate.
As they served us the hot chocolate, I was genuinely amazed. How stunning is this "latte" art! I honestly thought that it was only possible with coffees! The hot chocolate was creamy and sweet but not too sweet to the point where half a cup is all you can drink. It was perfect! The orange juice was incredibly refreshing too! It was exactly what I needed after days of not consuming fresh, healthy fruits.
The food came not long after the drinks were served. Everything look so tempting!
The granola was served along with a glass of Oolong Peach infused milk as well as Greek yogurt, and topped with fresh kiwis, pomegranates, and oranges! It was super tasty! Every element in the dish totally topped off each other. My favorite element of the dish had to be the homemade granola. It was crunchy and absolutely scrumptious!
For the squash toast, it consisted of roasted squash, onion jam, and English smoked sausage, accompanied with honey lemon vinaigrette salad. They garnish the dish with some kind of small edible flowers that made it looked exquisite. Unfortunately, it turned out that I am not a big fan of squash after all. But the other elements in the dish were fantastic! The sausage was especially delicious! It was tender, savory, and delicate at the same time. The whole dish was so filling yet appetizing.
At the time when David and I were about to exit the cafe, I noticed that there were trophies placed above the food display window. Out of curiosity, I decided to take a glance at the labels on the trophies. They turned out to be '2016 Malaysia Latte Art Championship' trophies! No wonder their hot chocolate "latte" art was fabulous.
So that's all for this post. I highly recommend visiting VCR (especially to coffee lovers) for their gorgeous latte arts as well as pleasant settings!
