During our trip to Kuala Lumpur, David and I paid a visit to one of Malaysia's most renowned theme park: Sunway Lagoon. The theme park offers various zones - Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, and Scream Park - for the visitors to have a blast at! It had been quite a while since I last stepped foot in Sunway Lagoon, and I was curious of and excited about the current attractions that they offer!
To get there, we took the KTM Komuter (Sentul - Port Klang) from KL Sentral; dropped of at Setia Jaya; took the BRT Sunway Line; and finally went down at Sunway Lagoon!

Once we arrived at the entrance, we went to the ticket counter to purchase the tickets to enter the theme park. At my surprise, they only provide the visitors with one ticket option: all-park ticket. I recall that Sunway Lagoon used to offer multiple choices of ticket packages (i.e. 3 parks, all-park) for the visitors to opt from, if memory serves right.
Unfortunately for us, we wouldn't able to enjoy the water park as we didn't bring our swimming outfits along with us; since we only planned to enjoy our time at the amusement park. However, it was quite a journey to reach the place. Plus, the weather was bright and clear with blue sky; and the theme park wasn't crowded with visitors as we went there on a weekday - which made it a perfect day to have some fun at the theme park! Hence, with all things considered, we decided to buy the entrance tickets to the theme park!
As we entered, we were welcomed with a wonderful tropical water park, and the soothing sound of palm trees rustling in the gentle wind.. It was ravishing!
Regretfully, we had to skip the huge, captivating water park and move on to the next zone: Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon. What caught my attention was the "SpongeBob Splash Adventure" zone! The layout was appealing and it had this perky atmosphere! I felt like I was actually in a pineapple under the sea! *LOL*
But again, we had to miss out the fun at Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon since it only consisted of water-related attractions. So we proceeded to the extreme park - which was a disappointment. Most of the attractions in the extreme park, if not all, required the visitors to pay additional fees in order for them to be able to enjoy the available attractions.
Afterward, we continued ahead to explore the wildlife park! I honestly thought that the wildlife park would be small, but it turned out to be considerably vast! The wildlife park consisted of a large number of animal species including peacocks, eagles, hornbills, pythons, prairie dogs, otters, black panthers, and a lot more!
In the wildlife park, there was an animal feeding station (my favorite area in the zone, if not the entire theme park) where visitors were allowed to pet and feed the animals within the station! There were lots of rabbits, ponies, as well as one of my favorite animals - guinea pigs! All of the animals in the feeding station were super adorable!
Next, we advanced to my most awaited zone - the amusement park! It had been quite some time since I last visited an amusement park, so I was very thrilled to ride the attractions! I absolutely truly utterly enjoy scary rides!
When we were queuing for a ride, we wondered if we had to keep our bags in the locker.. And it turned out we actually had to. We didn't think that it was necessary to rent a locker since we thought that the lockers were provided for visitors who would like to enjoy the water park and other water-related attractions. So we ended up having to walk a long way to the locker area to rent a locker and keep our bags inside; and all the way back to the amusement park to queue for the ride. Therefore, tip number 1 is keeping your bags inside the locker!
Our first ride was known as the "Pirate's Revenge". This thing spun 360 degrees! It was veraciously exhilarating!
Afterward, we went ahead and rode the "Lost City Scream Coaster". To be frank, it wasn't that scary, and it was quite brief, but I enjoyed the ride anyway!
Last but not least, we moved on to the scream park! There was this spine-chilling haunted house called the "Kevil Hill". As I stood in front of the entrance, I heard all the loud noises and screams of people in fright.. To add, we were told that inside would be a maze, and we had to walk through it in a group of 40 people (max.) for around 20 minutes to survive the horror!
I was quite intimidated at first.. But eventually I decided to toughen up and dare myself to enter the haunted house!
After all the torture, we survived the terrifying haunted house!

I actually had a confession to make. I closed my eyes and hid behind David all the way throughout the maze, and despite that, I still got startled several times too..
To recover myself from all the horror and fright, I went to buy an ice cream from an ice cream man who pushed his cart all around the theme park. I deliberately picked a flavor that is not available in my country just yet (hopefully) - Kit Kat! It was so good! I hope they're gonna sell it in Indonesia real soon!
Anyway, there were still so many more attractions within the theme park that I fail to mention on this post! I wonder if it is possible for a person to enjoy each and every attraction available in every zone within a single day.. I personally don't think that I am capable of doing so, since I have gotten exhausted after playing a few rides only.
After having enough fun, we decided to exit the theme park and go have our dinner. But before we left, we once again visited my favorite spot - the animal feeding station! I wished that I could take one guinea pig home with me..
As we were exiting the theme park, we saw a body surfing attraction where people could surf down the up-going current one at a time. It looked so fun, and I hope that I could try that someday!
After enjoying the day at Sunway Lagoon, we headed to Sunway Pyramid Mall to have our dinner. I contacted a friend of mine who is currently studying in Kuala Lumpur, and she brought us to a restaurant called "Sushi Zanmai". The food was delicious and it was fairly cheap. But I decided not to take pictures of the food cause I wanted to spend a quality time with David and my friend. Sorry!
Hi! I’m Shamilla. I am a Master student at Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. At the time, I am researching on tourists’ revisit and recommending intentions to destinations with roller coaster-type attractions. Sunway Lagoon is one of the destinations that I am studying. Therefore, I would like to invite you to participate in my survey, to share your experience of visiting Sunway Lagoon with me. The survey will only take about 10 – 15 minutes to be completed. Thank you for your time and cooperation.
