Rimba & Rusa

Before I went to Kuala Lumpur, I spotted a restaurant called Rimba & Rusa through Instagram. As I scanned through pictures of Rimba & Rusa, I instantly decided that Rimba & Rusa would definitely be on my top to-go destinations list for my trip to Kuala Lumpur!

On the day of my visit, I used Google Map to check how far away Rimba & Rusa was from the apartment I stayed in. It turned out that the estimated time of arrival was approximately two and a half hours.. At the start, I hesitated but David kept on encouraging me to go anyway saying that I will regret it otherwise. Thus, I made up my mind to go over to Rimba & Rusa!

So, the long journey to Rimba & Rusa begun. First, David and I took the LRT from KL Sentral; dropped down at Kelana Jaya; and took a bus which headed to Sunway Nexis, where Rimba & Rusa is located. Truthfully, it was a struggle to find out the right bus as most of the staff at the station were neither helpful nor friendly at all. As we stepped into the bus, we would like to make sure that it was indeed the right bus, so we attempted to confirm it with the bus driver. Lamentably, it turned out that the bus driver was (again) unfriendly and didn't speak English. So we were unsure if we rode the right bus, let alone knew where to drop off. The journey was long on its own, but it was especially hard due to the unhelpful and unfriendly staff at the station as well as the bus driver himself.

Luckily, a lady hopped on the bus somewhere along the way, and she ended up being a huge help to us! This lady was super kind and friendly. Not only that she told us where to drop off the bus, she also made sure that we won't miss the stop by instructing the bus driver to remind us to get down when we've reached our destination, right before she went down the bus! Bless her!

We were so glad that we eventually arrived at Sunway Nexis after all the hustle. There were still a lot of constructions going on at that place, and only handful of shops - mostly restaurants and cafes - that have opened. After a quick look around, we finally found Rimba & Rusa!

I have to say that Rimba & Rusa was exactly how it looked like in the pictures! The restaurant theme, decorations, pastel hues.. It was so photogenic!

David and I resolved to sit inside, right at the left side of the entrance door. It was the only spot at the restaurant with a rather low table to dine on, comfy sofa to sit on, and pretty decorations on the side. The restaurant actually was quite packed, so we were lucky to be able to sit on that spot!

Once we sat, we quickly placed our order as we were starving from the super long journey! Rimba & Rusa offered a variety of food on their menu ranging from Asian to Western cuisines. I ordered their appetizing Chicken & Mushroom Pizza, while David went for their mouthwatering Braised Glazed Short Rib. As for beverages, I opted for a good old glass of mineral water, whereas David selected their tempting Iced Chocolate Marshmallow. The Chicken & Mushroom Pizza was utterly delicious! It was a perfect combination of chicken, mushroom, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese on a crusty dough. The flavor was spot on!

As for the Braised Glazed Short Rib, it was even better! Not only that the meat was rich and tender, it was also perfectly seasoned and cooked! It also come along with rich and tasty whipped potato, crunchy onion rings, and flavorsome charred corn.

Their Iced Chocolate Marshmallow was delightful! I loved the sweet and fluffy marshmallow on top!

After finishing everything, we were so very stuffed to the point that we decided not to order any dessert. What a shame. So we proceeded to head to our next destination for that day. To be honest, the journey to our next destination wasn't any easier. But I won't get into specific details since there's more than enough whining on this post. Sorry!

After all, we had an amazing meal and time at Rimba & Rusa. The food was delicious and the restaurant was stunning! Nevertheless, the journey to and from there was remarkably long and tiring that it needs to be taken into consideration.
