Know what I love about Sundays..? Brunch! Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I visited a small yet cozy cafe in Kemang, South Jakarta called Sophie Authentique. We struggled a bit trying to get there since we've never been there before, we can't use Google map as our phones are out of battery, and the car's GPS has not been updated yet (perfect!). I have to say that it might not have the best location, but the food as well as cafe layout and ambiance definitely compensate it!
As soon as we stepped inside, I instantly fell in love with this small cafe! It is so cozy and adorable. I think I can stay there the whole day.. I am indeed fond of small tiny little cafes! (I actually dream of owning one myself..)
Inside the cafe, there were arrays of dishes ranging from sweet to savory. Tempting chocolate cakes, scrumptious looking pies, appetizing cookies, fresh breads and baguettes, mouthwatering quiches.... I just I want them all!
First things first, I went for their cranberry tea. It has this sweet fragrance and it tastes so delightful that I didn't need to add a single spoon of sugar. To top it off, the cranberry tea came along with a couple of crunchy cookies! Whereas my boyfriend ordered this lychee tea.
Moving to the main course, I decided to order their pate pork while my boyfriend chose to order a salmon and leeks quiches. They were absolutely delicious! I only got to take a few shots of the food since I can no longer wait to devour them.
For the pate, the breads were fresh and mild, and the minced pork mixture was well seasoned. The bread and minced pork mixture surely complement each other!
As for the quiches, it had a crisp outer layer with a rich filling of smooth, savory custard with cooked salmon and leeks. It just couldn't get any better.
For dessert, I chose a slice of Swiss chocolate cake and some mini caneles. The Swiss chocolate cake was simply AMAZING! It was rich, smooth, and it melts inside your mouth!
The tiny caneles were actually my least favorite. It did have a thick and tasty caramelized crust but I think that it was a little dry on the inside since I expected a soft and tender custard in the center.
All in all, it is a place that's worth visiting! Amazing food, friendly staffs, and window-facing counters.. I just love everything about this place! One thing for sure is that it won't be the last time for me to go there. I'll surely come back for more! :)
